Covid-19 created a record-breaking disruption across the globe forcing us to change our lifestyles!

From a rather glamorous to a much simpler one

From a handshake to "Hands-free"

From giving a warm hug to "No physical contact "

From business meetings to zoom calls

From conferences to webinars

CHANGE is the only constant!

This made me think like an interior designer what changes will Covid-19 bring the concept of interior design. Our house being the ONLY SAFE PLACE to be, will play a far more important and multiple roles than it ever did.

Be it work from home or homeschooling for your child, your home is the place you would invest in.

So, here's a list of ‘must-haves’ when you start planning your home design post-Covid-19:

1. Hygiene consciousness: Keep in mind that all the furniture you buy or order is disinfectant proof. Marble tops, glass tops, etc will be ideal in comparison to veneers and laminates as they will wear off due to chemicals present in disinfectants. Install a hands-free foot-operated door opener to avoid contact with the handle and prevent cross-contamination.

2. A "NO TOUCH " or Sensor tap installed in your bathrooms or powder rooms so that it enables you to sanitize yourself easily.

3. A fully equipped work desk with an ergonomic chair to help you sit comfortably for long working hours.

4. Study desk for kids with a screen on wall option if possible, so that they maintain sufficient space from the screen. You can also have a screen guard to ensure that your little one’s eyes are protected while they indulge in all those online learning classes.

5. A small recreational area or gym for physical activity and relaxation. If you have the luxury of space, you can convert it into a ‘den room’ instead of a guest room. This arrangement can take care of multiple activities such as a library on the wall, a folding or moving study table which then gives floor space for yoga or exercise, an inbuilt home theater system with recliners so that you do not miss those fun moments and rather enjoy them with popcorns at home without any fear or guilt in a safe environment.
